CAIRO, EGYPT — June 2026 — Minesweepers proudly announces the launch of its 13th Edition. Building on the remarkable success of its previous edition, this year’s challenge continues to mobilize young engineers and innovators from across the globe around one of the world’s most urgent humanitarian causes: detecting and clearing landmines to build a safer world for all.

The 13th Edition is organized by the Global Innovation & Entrepreneurship company (GIE) as Managing Partner, in strategic partnership with the Ministry of Education and Technical Education, with Misr El Kheir Foundation as Community Partner and MENA Robotics Technologies as Technical Partner.

With over 110 million landmines still buried across the globe, threatening lives and rendering vast lands unusable, Minesweepers challenges participants to design and build robotic systems capable of detecting and mapping landmines and explosive remnants of war. The challenge transforms a real-world humanitarian crisis into a hands-on engineering mission, applying advanced principles in robotics, sensing, and autonomous navigation.

The 13th Edition features three competitive tracks — Scouts and Juniors for school students, and Academia for university students and graduates — welcoming participants of all levels to contribute to the global mission of humanitarian demining. Every robot built reinforces Minesweepers’ identity as a premier global platform where engineering meets real-world impact.

In this context, training programs are being implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Technical Education and with support from the Misr El Kheir Foundation to establish robotics clubs in schools and equip students with engineering and technical skills from an early age.
